NEUROFEEDBACK
Neurofeedback, often called brain training, is a non-invasive technique that uses EEG to monitor the brain’s electrical activity and provide feedback for improved regulation. By leveraging operant conditioning, it helps the brain break unadaptive firing patterns and promote more balanced responses. This ground-up approach allows the brain to adjust itself over time, enhancing its ability to regulate and heal more efficiently and automatically.
Neurofeedback training is run as a program that teaches the brain foundational self-regulation skills. Similar to learning any new skill, training sessions are more frequent at first and taper off as the brain learns to break unadaptive patterns and maintain healthy changes on its own. Since every brain is unique, the total number of sessions varies for each individual.
Neurofeedback is a modern mental health approach that helps regulate the nerbous system by requiring individuals to attent sessions and be open to change sin their response patterns. Our program uses Neuroptimal, a non-invasive and dynamic training system where clients sit or lay comfortably, listening to music while their brain’s electircal activity is monitored through a live EEG. The system provides feedback back to the brain through sound cues, encouraging the brain to break unadaptive firing patterns, leading to greater flexibility, resilience, adn regulation over time.
Program Overview
Consultation Call (20 Minutes) Our free consultation call covers your reasons for seeking services, how Neurofeedback works, program details, costs and informed consent etc. The Neurofeedback clinician will review with you, your main reasons for seeking training, goals and any important background information that will inform your training process.
Training (33- 43 minute sessions) Neurofeedback training consists of a Learning Phase (typically 10 sessions 1-2/week), a Practice or Consolidation Phase (typically 10 sessions 1/week or bi-weekly) and an Integration or Maintenance Phase (typically 5-10 sessions spaced out according to individual progress and response to training). A minimum of 20 sessions is recommended as a baseline.
Training Reviews (as needed) To help guide you through the shifts your brain is making and answer any questions you have, the Neurofeedback clinician supporting you is happy to set up a time for a review at any point throughout your training.
